Mario Street Featuring Twista
Tell Me Why
We produced this rap video with the idea of making a statement. Too many times we ask ourselves why things happen. The song is titled “Tell Me Why”. Why we have the senseless violence in the inner-city streets. Today we have things that seem to be spinning out of control. If we start to think and find out the real reasons things happen. Then we can get to the point where we start solving some of these problems. That was the goal of this music video. To make you think!
This rap video was produced for Mario Street and Platinum recording rap artist Twista. Mario Street is part of Royal Movement record label. A majority of this video was shot in south Chicago (Chi-raq). An abandoned paint warehouse made the perfect backdrop for the Lamborghini performance shot. A majority of the storyline was also shot there.
The rooftop performance with Twista was shot a few miles north of the downtown. The location gave us a great view of the city skyline. The whether did not cooperate, however, the post-production team was able to pull out some color from the background.
The video was directed by Ro Leon and shot by our Chicago crew. The editing was done in our California headquarters.
About Mario Street:
As a child Mario Street was raised by a single mother and his grandparents.
Mario was surrounded by Love. but his mom work 2 and 3 jobs to put food on the table and a roof over their heads. In high school Mario wanted out of the struggle, he wanted to
feel powerful, and unconsciously wanted to fill that empty spot where his father
should have been. So he headed for the streets, became involved with the Black Mafia
where he would be introduced to all sorts of crime and punishment. Arrested
over 70 times, shot twice, jailed, and prisoned Mario has been through it all. As if that wasn’t enough, he also became strung out on the drugs he sold, leading him to homelessness and all sorts of unsavory situations. He finally came to a point in life where he was sick and tired. He found his worth, found out his purpose in life to help others and has been going strong at it now for almost 6 years, schools, government conferences, news, radio, etc. He has placed himself in a triumphant situation pressing towards success by giving himself as a tool to bring Joy, hope, peace, and love to the people of the world through his story and addressing causes that need to be addressed.
